It manifests itself in the form of a "jerky" mouse and I/O resources which take a long time to access. The problem is noticed on the PC after the SW has been running for 2 hours or more since the last reboot.

Potentially, anyone using a LaserJet 1100A on a PC running under the Windows 98 operating system with either Revision A or Revision B of the product software. However, not all customers using Windows 98 will experience the problem because it has not been seen on all Windows 98 PCs during testing.

Anyone using the LaserJet 1100 printer only product will not experience the problem in any operating system. Also, Windows 98 customers using only the LaserJet 1100 printer only product will not experience the problem.
Who Should Apply the LaserJet 1100 hpp1284 Patch?
All customers using the LaserJet 1100A printer-copier-scanner product in conjunction with a PC running the Windows 98 operating system.
Instructions For Installing the LaserJet 1100 hpp1284 Patch
1. Copy the file hpp1284.exe to the root directory of the user's PC. In most cases, this is the C:\ drive.
2. Shut down all applications running on the PC.
3. Shut down the LaserJet 1100A Document Assistant by right clicking the tray icon and choosing the "close" option.
4. Click on the Windows 98 "Start" button and choose the "Run" option.
5. Type in the path to the hpp1284.exe file along with the name of the file. For example, "C:\hpp1284.exe" .
6. Push the "OK" button on the "Run" dialogue.
7. After the patch program dialogues disappear, reboot the PC by clicking the Windows 98 "Start" button and choosing the "Shutdown" option.
8. After the PC reboots, the user may delete the hpp1284.exe file from the PC.
